Volunteer At The Library

The library is not currently accepting volunteer applications.
Please check back for volunteer opportunities at a future date.

The Durango Public Library welcomes volunteers to supplement our service to the community. Volunteering at the Library is a great way to use your talents, give back to the community, learn new skills, and meet new people!

All library volunteers are interviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator Team before training can begin. Adult volunteers must pass a background check. This background check is paid for by the Library.

It is beneficial if the volunteer has some experience interacting with a computer and can communicate via email.

To volunteer in the adult areas of the library, a person must be 17-years-old and up. Opportunities in the youth areas are open to persons 12-years-old and up.

The Library staff strives to be a warm, welcoming service team and volunteers are considered a part of that success.

Example of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Special event assistance
  • Adult program assistance
  • Youth program assistance
  • Departmental assistance
  • Short-term or special projects
  • Shelving

Please Note: The library does not accept court-ordered community service.
