In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Durango and Business Improvement District (BID) created the Bump-Outs for Businesses program to encourage outdoor dining and business activity in downtown Durango. This temporary program allows businesses along Main Avenue and 2nd Avenue to use parking spaces and adjacent parts of the right-of-way for outdoor seating, conducting transactions, and displaying merchandise. The program is intended to support our economic recovery while reducing the spread of COVID-19. The BID and City staff are constantly monitoring the program and making changes to improve safety and functionality of the Bump-Outs. The program is set to expire on November 1, 2020.
To improve safety and traffic flow, Main Avenue was re-striped into one lane for traffic in each direction along with a center turn lane prior to installing the Bump-Outs. Parking is free downtown on weeknights after 5:00 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday. Download a parking map here.
