The purpose of the Natural Lands Preservation Advisory Board is to oversee the acquisition, protection, stewardship, and use of the city’s open spaces and natural lands in such a manner that will enhance the natural beauty of the city and provide for the enjoyment, health, and general welfare of its residents.

Responsibilities
- Provides recommendations relative to planning, developing, and implementing the Open Space Program
- Reviews open space dedications within new developments
- Evaluates and prioritizes parcels of land for inclusion in the Open Space Program
- Develops and refines open space management policies
- Reviews improvements on open space parcels, including natural surface trails
- Promotes stewardship of the city’s natural lands and maintain a healthy forest
