Engineering

The Engineering Division is responsible for:

  • Project and Development Review
  • Capital Improvements Project (CIP) Management
  • Issuance of excavation permits, public improvement agreements, and right-of-way permits
  • Traffic Studies and Temporary Traffic Control during construction

Right-of-Way Permits


Per City Code of Ordinances Section 21-51, written permission is required for obstruction of any kind or nature or to dig or leave any excavation in the city's right-of-way. The city's right-of-way consists of any part of any street, alley or sidewalk. Obstructing or digging in the public right-of-way without permission from the city is unlawful and subject to fines. All person(s) wanting to obstruct or dig in the public right-of-way are required to complete a permit application and submit to the Engineering Department located at: 1235 Camino del Rio, Durango, CO 81301
