Multimodal Transportation

Durango is a community that encourages alternatives to using a single occupancy vehicle. Whether you walk, bike, ride our popular Durango T bus and trolley system, or carpool, our Multimodal Division has resources for you. To the left, you’ll find a wealth of information about getting around Durango by modes other than a single occupancy vehicle.

Survey: Bicycle Friendly Community

The city of Durango has applied to renew its designation as one of the top "Bicycle Friendly Community" cities in the nation. The recognition comes from The League of American Bicyclists founded in 1880.

The Bicycle Friendly America program provides Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond rankings to businesses, communities and universities based on bicycle facilities and programs. There are 488 communities ranked in the nation. Durango is among only 34 with Gold designation. See Colorado and nationwide rankings here.

Bike Friendly Community

Community members are invited to provide input by taking a survey. The survey will provide context for the review and decision-making process and valuable feedback for the city from bicyclists in our community.

Take the survey here. Deadline is March 31.

Winter Bike to Work Day: Feb. 26, 2021

Join the city of Durango in celebrating sustainable transportation with Winter Bike to Work Day and the Business Commuter Challenge.

Clean commuters can bike, walk, roll or bus to the Transit Center Feb. 22 through 26 to pick up a reusable tote bag with items including socks and a Winter Bike to Work Day hoody (while supplies last). Thanks to the following businesses for contributing items to the bags:

  • Bread: Free cookie cards (limited supply)
  • Ska Brewing: Free pint cards (limited supply)

The bag will include a card with a list of businesses inviting clean commuters to stop by their locations on Bike to Work Day – Friday, Feb. 26 – for discounts.

Please wear your Winter Bike to Work Day hoody or bring the participating business card into businesses to enjoy their offerings on Winter Bike to Work Day:

Also on Feb. 26, look for Winter Bike to Work signs along the Animas River Trail, at the Transit Center and other locations with QR codes sharing fun facts about commuting and a survey. Complete the survey and be entered into a drawing for gift cards to local businesses.

Need an added challenge? Gather a group of coworkers, friends or family members and compete in the Business Commuter Challenge. Learn more here.
