Durango Recycling Center

The Durango Recycle Center is open Tuesdays through Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m for single stream and battery drop-off only. The following restrictions apply: 

  • It is suggested customers wear a face covering or mask while using the public drop off area.  
  • A maximum of two cars will be allowed in the drop off area at one time.  
  • To ensure proper social distancing between customers and employees, only one person will be allowed out of the vehicle to dispose of recycle material.

Electronic waste and residential quantities of fluorescent bulbs are accepted on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Up to six large items will be accepted per vehicle.

Recycle Center Drop-off

  • Single Stream
    • City of Durango residents who pay for single stream service on their monthly utility bill can bring extra properly prepared single stream material to the Recycle Center free of charge with a current City of Durango residential utility bill
    • Non-residents can bring single stream to the Recycle Center for $5 per 60 gallons of material during regular opening hours.
  • Glass
    • Mixed glass is accepted for free  (residential customers only) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No proof of residency required.
  • Electronics
    • Small quantities of electronics (6 items or less) are accepted on Saturdays 9 am - 5 pm
    • Rates vary by item.
  • Batteries
    • Household dry-cell batteries (e.g. AAA, AA, C, D, and 9-volt) area accepted during regular opening hours for $2 per pound (one pound minimum.)
  • Commercial
    • Single Stream: $5 per cubic yard
      • Tuesday through Friday 9 AM - 2 PM
    • Cardboard: $5 per cubic yard
      • Tuesday through Friday 9 am - 2 pm
